BlackBerry App Store Only Taking 20% Cut and Sets Minimum App Price at $2.99

Business Week has some very interesting details about the soon-to-launch BlackBerry app store in this article…

The Apps Battle Heats Up

Here’s a couple of items that caught my eye:

– RIM will take a 20% cut of the cost of an app. This compares well to the 30% Apple takes.
– The minimum app price is set at $2.99. Apple iPhone apps can (and often are) be priced as low as 99 cents.

Will this be enough to entice developers to build BlackBerry apps?

And, the real question is: When RIM opens their app store, will anyone come and buy anything? And, more importantly, who will do the buying? Unlike the nearly pure-consumer-play iPhone, a significant number of BlackBerry units are owned by enterprise entities (businesses and governments).
