Beyonce's Surprise Album Sparked More Than 5,300 Tweets Per Minute
Beyonce’s surprise album drop on Friday generated not only a massive amount of downloads and traffic for iTunes, the sole source for Queen B’s fifth record, but also an insane level of buzz on Twitter.
Mashable reports that the news generated 1.2 million tweets in less than 12 hours.
That’s more than 5,300 tweets per minute, at its peak — higher than Sharknado’s record (5,000 tweets per minute).
The most tweeted song was “Blue,” written about Beyonce and Jay Z’s daughter Blue Ivy.
