Back in the heady days of marketing, circa 2013, two vastly different but equally huge announcements triggered a massive amount of buzz in the social media world.
First, back in August, was the TV broadcast of the movie Sharknado. Suffice to say that this was one of the most talked-about events we’ve ever seen on Twitter. Then, in December, the hype was turned up even louder when Beyoncé launched her self-titled new album directly on iTunes.
Now, I like Sharknado. But then I also like Beyoncé. But which is better? There’s only one way to find out…
… and that’s via this infographic, courtesy of Vertical Measures, who analysed the Twitter response to both events. And your winner? Perhaps surprisingly it’s Beyoncé, who had almost three times the overall impact within the first 24 hours of release.
