Results of a recent survey, which queried 1,000+ Americans nationwide and was sponsored by founder of Live Your Message Marisa Murgatroyd, demonstrate that Americans are divided when it comes to teaching social media in schools.
A full quarter of respondents aged 5+ thought hashtags should be taught in schools, whereas 68.5% of respondents aged 18-24 believed the opposite.
Moreover, while 25.5% of respondents over the age of 55 didn’t know what a hashtag is, only 17.6% of those under 55 didn’t know. The fact that the majority of young adults are familiar with hashtags may be why they don’t feel the need for them to be included in their coursework.
