Architect Frank Gehry Will Design Facebook’s New NYC Office Interior

By Devon Glenn

Facebook has announced its plans to move members of its engineering, sales, marketing, communications, and design teams into a 100,000-square-foot office in New York City.

The new space at 770 Broadway in Manhattan is nearly twice the size of the company’s current offices at 335 Madison Avenue and will take up two floors of an existing building that also houses AOL. Frank Gehry, the architect known for designing Disney Hall in Los Angeles and other landmarks, will design the interior.

From the blog post:

To me, a really exciting part of all of this is the chance to work with Frank Gehry. He’s currently working with us on the expansion of our headquarters in Menlo Park, where we’ve seen his extraordinarily ability to deliver an incredible quality of design that focuses directly on people and enables the kind of highly collaborative work that our employees do. As such, we were delighted when he agreed to help us build out our new space in New York. It will share many of the features of our headquarters, but will be distinctly Big Apple in design and speak to the unique experience of working in a place like Manhattan.

The move is expected to happen at the beginning of 2014.
