Aptara Signs Inkling For Digital Textbooks

Digital publishing company Aptara has forged a partnership with textbook publisher Inkling to produce rich media digital textbooks.

Aptara is already working with McGraw Hill and Wiley. The company specializes in creating rich media versions of traditional print books. This includes animations and interactive diagrams.

We caught up with Aptara CEO Dev Ganesan on the floor at Book Expo and he showed us a text book that teaches about rainforest animals, which turned into an animation when you click on the animals.

The content looked great on an iPad, but they can also format ePub and XML files, as well as files for Kindle and mobile devices.
