Apple Targets Small Business

Apple Inc., the consumer electronics maker that dazzled retail customers with its iPhone and iPad devices is hiring “Solution Engineers” in dozens of its retail stores to cater to enterprise customers, according to a recent job posting.

The search for business-focused specialists as part of its network of about 300 U.S. retail stores marks a shift in Apple’s retail strategy, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The company has traditionally focused on consumers and niche businesses such as design studios and media companies, and while Apple already sells enterprise devices such as servers, its growing retail chain gives it a way to reach smaller local businesses and startups.

As part of their job, Apple’s “Solution Engineers” will “serve as a crucial conduit between the business leader’s vision and their business needs,” according to the job posting on Apple’s Web site.
