Do you read use your mobile device to plan trips? There are thousands of apps available to help you imagine, book and execute travel plans. Below, we’ve collected five other free travel tools can use for iOS and Android devices; they can be downloaded at Google Play, Amazon’s Appstore and Apple’s iTunes. 1. TripAdvisor: "Looking to plan the perfect trip? Or are you a local trying to find something new to do in your home city? TripAdvisor is your answer. The popular website is now available to you through your smartphone. Search by city, and TripAdvisor gives you a listing of dozens of hotels, with ratings, reviews, rates, and locations. Find restaurants and activities, everything from spas and landmarks to gambling and shopping. Check up on airfares to your destination, or read the TripAdvisor forums about particular regions by topic. If you have a location detector, you can click the "Near Me Now" button to find hotels, restaurants, and activities near your current location." 2. TripIt: "TripIt 'automagically' takes all your trip details and creates one truly helpful itinerary that’s there when and where you need it – on your on your smartphone or tablet, sync’d with your calendar, and online at tripit.com." 3. Kayak Mobile: "One travel app does the job of many. Compare hundreds of travel sites at once, right on your phone. Compare flight, hotel and car rental deals. Track your flight status. View and manage your trip itinerary. Look up baggage fees. Access airline numbers and airport info." 4. Yelp: "Looking for a burrito joint open now? An Irish pub nearby? A gas station you can drive to before your tank hits empty? Yelp for your iPhone is here to help. Use us to search for places to eat, shop, drink, relax and play then read reviews from an active community of locals in the know." 5. Currency Converter: "The Currency Converter app uses OANDA Rates, the same daily filtered exchange rates used by auditing firms and banks. Convert more than 190 currencies and four precious metals. Choose the Interbank rate, or use the percentage add-on feature to calculate typical rates charged by credit card companies and banks."
