Apple Sees $10B in Apps Sold in 2013

App_Store_LogoApple said its App Store sold $10 billion in apps in 2013. A billion worth were sold in December alone when 3 billion apps were downloaded, “making it the most successful month in App Store history,” the company said.

The App Store has generated $15 billion for developers so far, Apple said.

Apple praised developers for making it a successful season and touted the impact of iOS 7. The company also gave special credit to a handful of brands and “surprise hits.”

Developers such as Evernote, Yahoo!, AirBnB, OpenTable, Tumblr, Pinterest and American Airlines re-imagined the user experience, bringing content to the forefront while increasing the overall efficiency and performance of their apps.
