Anonymous Calls On All Hackers To Destroy Facebook On November 5 [Video]

The infamous hacker group Anonymous is calling on all hackers to help them put an end to Facebook.  In a video that was uploaded to YouTube last month, but is going viral today, a computerized voice calls for action.  “Your medium of communication you all so dearly adore will be destroyed.  If you are a willing hacktivist or a guy who just wants to protect the freedom of information then join the cause and kill Facebook for the sake of your own privacy.”  Operation Facebook goes down on November 5.

The video message from Anonymous, embedded below, is quickly approaching the 1 million-view mark today.  You can read a full transcript on our sibling blog, AllFacebook.

Anonymous has claimed responsibility for a number of recent hacker attacks, including attacks against the Pentagon, Amazon and Visa.  Facebook appears to be next, although it is unclear exactly what form this November hackathon will take.  Whatever it is, it seems like it’s going to be big.  The message says, “One day you will look back on this and realize what we have done here is right.  You will thank the rulers of the Internet.  We are not harming you, but saving you… Think for a while and prepare for a day that will go down in history.  November 5, 2011.”

It should be noted that while the video was Tweeted out from a new Anonymous twitter account, the “official” Anonymous Twitter account @AnonOps has declared that while Operation Facebook is being organized by some Anonymous members, the organization as a whole does not necessarily claim responsibility or agree with the attack.

What do you think is going to go down on November 5?  Should Mark Zuckerberg be shaking in his boots?
