Amex & Tribeca Film Want Your Movie Pitch

By Megan O'Neill Comment

If you’ve got a great idea for a short film but you don’t have the means to make it yourself, pitch it to American Express and Tribeca Film and it could be showcased in next year’s Tribeca Film Festival.  You don’t have to be a filmmaker—you just have to have a creative idea.  Create a video pitching your idea in 60 seconds or less, upload it to YouTube and your pitch could be made into a short film by an acclaimed Tribeca Film director.  Read on to learn more details, as well as to check out the winning pitch and film that screened at this year’s festival.

Amex and Tribeca Film are accepting pitches through their My Movie Pitch contest on YouTube.  You’ll find it on the American Express Film YouTube channel.  If you win, your pitch will be made into a short film to premiere at the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival.  You’ll also win a trip to NYC to see it premiere.  Pretty nice deal, right?  Check out the video below for more details.

Have a great idea for a movie that you want to submit?  American Express outlines the submission guidelines in the video below.  Make sure your pitch is under 60 seconds and in English.  You must be 18 to enter.

This isn’t the first time that Amex has run this contest.  The winner last year was a guy named John Nash (as you saw in the first video above) who pitched a movie idea about a guy with a moustache called Mr. Stache.  Check out John’s pitch below, as well as the completed film, which screened at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival.

If you need inspiration, check out some of the pitches on the American Express Film page on YouTube and watch :60 Film School – The Art of a Pitch.  Personally, I’m partial to this pitch for Gesundheit, an allergy season horror film where sneezing…gets you killed!  When you’re ready, submit your pitch!  The idea that gets the most likes, that Tribeca’s filmmakers also like, gets made into a movie!

Do you plan to submit to the ‘My Movie Pitch’ contest?  If you do, feel free to share the link to your pitch in the comments below and best of luck!
