Amazon says its Android Appstore tripled customers in the fourth quarter

Amazon said that the number of customers using its Android Appstore tripled in the fourth quarter, according to its earnings statement today. The company also added that users downloaded more apps from the Appstore during the holiday quarter than they did in all previous quarters combined.

It’s difficult to understand exactly what those numbers mean for Android developers who are eyeing Amazon’s appstore as an alternative to Google’s Android Market.

Unfortunately, Amazon didn’t share any actual Kindle Fire sales numbers.
