Amazon Opens Australian Office

The retail juggernaut Amazon announced this week that it had opened its first office in Australia.

Right now Amazon will be staffing the office to support its cloud computing customers in Australia. The head of Amazon’s Asia-Pacific Web Services division was in Sydney, Australia, earlier today, and he gave a presentation to a group of Amazon’s corporate customers. Shane Owenby assured the gathered multitude that Amazon was planning to have local staff in Australia.

While it’s not clear that this office will support the Kindle locally, there is a chance that this could grow into a local Kindle Store.
