Aeria mobile today announced the launch of its new monster-battling/card collecting game Magimon on iOS. The game’s been on iOS for three days so far and we’re told it’s already racked up 100,000 installs.
The game is an anime-inspired adventure set in a post-apocalyptic world where users collect monsters known as the eponymous Magimon. Along the way, players side with one of two factions during their journey: the noble Advocates (who fight for freedom and equality for the Magimon) or the Sentinels (a group hell-bent on using the Magimon’s power to restore the world to its former glory).
As opposed to many monster battle games — which rely on random encounters as players roam the landscape — the monster-collection system requires users to craft their creatures with materials they collect on their journeys.
Players are also encouraged to acquire friends within their factions so they can participate in co-op missions and team up in PvP battles. Meanwhile, the game lets users acquire friends and followers by email invites and trading friend IDs. The larger one’s in-game social network, the more resources once can harvest to create Magimon. Players can also tweet about their progress when they hit certain milestones within the game.
When we last heard from Aeria Mobile, the company had just released the Android version of its iOS card collecting game, Monster Paradise. Monster Paradise peaked earlier this summer in iTunes as the No. 16 top free game and No. 24 top free app in June; currently the game is the No. 161 top grossing game and the No. 206 top grossing app.
