Facebook introduced a minor tweak to its ad-targeting options that could prove to be a major help for marketers aiming to focus on specific professions.

Reader Evyatar Shpilman of Visual Communication shared the screenshot above, in which he illustrated that users of Facebook’s Power Editor can now target Facebook users by their specific areas of study, without being required to specify the schools they attended.

Shpilman pointed out that this change provides a way for marketers to indirectly target Facebook users by profession, since that option is not currently available — if a Facebook user studied medicine, the chances of that user being a doctor are fairly high, for example.
