The Oscars are just around the corner and everyone is talking about who they think will win for Best Picture (achem..Inception), Best Actor and Actress, Best Director and more. But instead of just talking about who you think will win, Hulu has opened up their platform to your votes. Everyone is invited to register their predictions together and see who the popular picks are.
Hulu has opened up the voting in their Oscar’s section. Polls are open for Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director, Best Animated Feature Film, Best Foreign Language Film, Best Original Screenplay, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Documentary Feature, Best Original Score, Best Original Song, Best Film Editing, and all the other categories, right down to makeup and short films.
Make your own picks right next to the picks of Gregory Ellwood, Editor-in-Chief of HitFix.com and see how your predictions stack up against the popular picks. Make your vote and then see what percentage of voters agree with you. When it comes to Best Picture, Ellwood of HitFix is predicting that ‘The King’s Speech’ will take home the Oscar, and so far the majority of voters agrees with him, at 33%. But there’s still time to get in there and vote for ‘Inception’!
I really like the idea of having users vote for their top picks before Sunday’s awards show. This is similar to the campaign Hulu ran during the Super Bowl, asking viewers to rank commercials as they aired. The result was a great ranked list of the best Super Bowl commercials of 2011, which turned out to be one of the most accurate lists on the Web. I think it will be interesting to see just how accurate Hulu’s viewers will be in terms of who the actual Academy Award winners will be this year.
Do you think Hulu users will be able to accurately predict the outcome of this year’s Academy Awards? Will you be clocking in your vote (for ‘Inception’, of course)?
