The creator of Facebook’s “like” button, Aaron Sittig, has returned to the company as a product architect last month, having left the position of design strategy lead in June 2010.

Sittig had led the visual design of Facebook, creating icons for features like photos and wall posts, according to blogger Kim-Mai Cutler. He also came up with the idea of tagging photos, which has helped Facebook surpass even Flickr for image sharing.

His return and switch in roles coincides with the social network making pictures even more prominent in its design, and the debut of the new high-resolution photo viewer.
