Sittig was one of Facebook’s earliest employees and its first designer, brought on board by former President Sean Parker in 2005. He left his position as design strategy lead in June 2010, only to return to the social network in February 2011 as a product architect.

His most prominent accomplishments at Facebook include designing the like button and adding the capability to tag photos.

A source close to Facebook told Digits Sittig had been heavily involved in Facebook’s mobile efforts during the past year.
