John Wayne's True Grit Golden Globe Up for Grabs

When a big John Wayne memorabilia auction rolls into the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel this fall, one of the items up for bid will be the Golden Globe won by the actor for his performance in 1969’s True Grit.

Unlike the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which added a winner’s contract in 1950 that gives the organization first right of sale refusal and the ability to buy back any statuette for peanuts, there are no such rules on the Hollywood Foreign Press Association side.
