Facebook introduced local awareness ads last October, and the social network offered eight ways the ad product can be used by small and midsized businesses.

In a Facebook for Business post, the social network provided this list and offered examples below of successful execution by the following brands to reinforce its message: UGG Australia, El School of Professional Makeup, Tire Discounters, Sears Hometown & Outlet Stores, HEX Performance, BarKogi, Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau and Whole Foods Market.

  1. Encourage people to shop in store.
  2. Increase local brand awareness.
  3. Help specific stores meet their sales targets.
  4. Tell people about new store locations and grand openings.
  5. Get the right people to your event.
  6. Tell people in the area about things happening now.
  7. Build buzz by rallying local communities.
