5oosh (pronounced five-oosh) has announced the public launch of its celebrity engagement platform on iOS and Android. The app allows celebrities (including internet influencers) to interact with their fans in personal ways, including through one-on-one video sessions purchased by fans through in-app auctions.
With 5oosh, fans can bid on auctions to receive live video sessions, personalized video greetings or memorabilia from talent on the app. Celebrities like Sean Kingston, Corbin Bernsen and Jasmine Villegas (among others) have already signed on to the platform. Each auction is timed, and may have a reserve price which must be met before the activity or item is ‘sold.’ Participating celebrities and influencers are compensated for each item or experience sold within the app, and can choose to donate some or all of the proceeds to a charity or cause of their choice.
In a statement, Ido Dovrat, CEO and co-founder of 5oosh, commented:
We wanted to create a platform where celebrities are able to connect, one-on-one, with their fans. With social networks such as Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter, followers are able to reach out to their favorite celebrity, but chances are, they won’t receive a message back. Our goal is to open a bidirectional means of communication for both the fan and the talent, to connect personally and directly, without location boundaries or hassle.
