Some 9 million Facebook users were responsible for approximately 20 million interactions on the social network related to the championship match of FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 Sunday night, in which the U.S. defeated Japan 5-2.

Facebook global lead, athletes and sports solutions Brandon Gayle said in a Facebook Media blog post that Carli Lloyd, who scored a hat trick in the game, was the U.S. player with the most buzz on the social network, while Yuki Ogimi took that title for Japan.
