Note to Farmville and Facebook fanatics: even the strictest privacy settings can’t keep you safe. A security breach involving sending Facebook user IDs to advertising and Internet tracking companies has been revealed, raising more questions about whether Facebook is doing enough to safeguard privacy.

The latest in a series of online privacy reports by The Wall Street Journal found that Facebook’s most popular apps, including FarmVille, TexasHoldEm Poker, and FrontierVille, have been used to share users’ personal information with more than 25 advertisers and online tracking companies.

At the heart of the breach are the “Facebook ID” numbers that are assigned to every user on the site and can be used to look up a person’s name and information.
