Report: 50% of OpenFeint's New Android Games Have Hit the Top 15

OpenFeint's recent arrival to Android has garnered a lot of speculation as to what the gaming service would do on Google's burgeoning platform. OpenFeint last month announced that it would be bringing hit titles from iOS to Android, which we covered here on SocialTimes. Today OpenFeint released some stats showcasing how their expansion to Android is coming along and the results have been stellar; enough so that OpenFeint is looking to double down on these efforts by planning a release of 12 more titles. More after the jump. 8 of the 20 games announced have already launched and seen success. Half of the launched games on Android have hit the top 15 in the Android marketplace. 2 games, MiniSquadron and Fruit Ninja, hit the top two spots for paid games within 72 hours of launch. OpenFeint also crossed 40 million users across games on iPhone and Android, a gain from 3 million users last month, making it the largest mobile social gaming network in the world. "We're absolutely ecstatic about MiniSquadron's launch on Android with OpenFeint. Reaching number 2 on the paid charts and driving tens of thousands of downloads for our games has been a great success," said Tak Fung of Supermono. The spectacular launch of these hit titles is paving way for a second wave of Android games that will be launching this week. Announced titles include Super K.O. Boxing 2 by Glu, Flick Kick Rugby by PikPok, Touch Racing Nitro and Penalty World Challenge 2010 by Bravo Game Studios, Cestos 2: Party Time by ChickenBrick Studios, SpeedX by Hyperbees, Babo Crash Deluxe by Playbrains, Kamikaze Race by TastyPlay.com, Brain Twister Lite and Color Cocktail Lite by The Game Boss, Dot Dot by ustwo, and SkyForce by iDreams. "Super K.O. Boxing 2 will make fantastic addition to the gaming community on Android," said Mike Breslin, VP of Marketing at Glu. "OpenFeint's social gaming platform offers an effective solution for developers and publishers to get their games discovered on Android and we're excited to partner with them to bring one of our original hit titles to the platform." OpenFeint will showcase each app using their Spotlight app - a destination users are turning to in order to discover quality games. OpenFeint's network is doing well - adding over quarter of a million new users daily across 3,100 games. OpenFeint offers a free, open source SDK to developers as well as OpenFeint X, their virtual goods platform. Other companies in the space include PapayaMobile, ngmoco and Scoreloop.
