More than 500 entrants sent in 150-word essays and photos, which were reviewed by a panel including Today‘s Natalie Morales, MSNBC’s Contessa Brewer, LXTV’s Jane Hanson, and iVillage chief correspondent Kelly Wallace, executive producer for iVoices on iVillage.
iVillage executive vice president Jodi Kahn said:
iVoices on iVillage puts the power of storytelling directly in the hands of our millions of passionate community members. These 15 dynamic women will share the types of meaningful stories that define what iVillage members come to read, reflect, and share about everyday. Through this unique and unprecedented opportunity, women can now have their voices heard across iVillage and NBC Local Media at the same time.
We had set out to find 10 women but had such an incredible response and so many amazing candidates that we had to expand the group to 15. Each of the selected women is incredibly thoughtful and engaging, as well as eager to connect with others and have their voices heard. We’re thrilled to showcase all of the rock stars we found!
