Facebook announced that more than 1 million users accessed the social network via Tor during the past 30 days.

Facebook launched its onion URL for Tor in October 2014, and it added support for the Orbot proxy application for Android devices in January.
Software engineer for security infrastructure Alec Muffett said in a note on the Facebook Over Tor page Friday:
People who choose to communicate over Tor do so for a variety of reasons related to privacy, security and safety. As we’ve written previously, it’s important to us to provide methods for people to use our services securely–particularly if they lack reliable methods to do so.
