Nearly two-thirds of Americans believe a double-dip recession will likely happen, according to a study from StrategyOne. Among those Americans, 44 percent believe the second recession will be worse than the first; 21 percent believe it will be “much more severe.”
StrategyOne polled 1,043 American online between August 20 and 23. The survey is a follow-up to a previous study that found that nearly two-thirds of Americans don’t think they’ll be able to retire.
In preparation for the double-dip recession, 41 percent are planning to cut back on their spending over the next three to four months and 79 percent say they are planning on spending less money on Christmas this year. Half of those polled don’t see a recovery happening until after 2011.
