Survey: 52% Of Bloggers View Themselves As Journalists

PRWeek and PR Newswire released their annual media survey today, which presents the opinions of 1,568 traditional and non-traditional media and 1,670 PR practitioners.

The majority of bloggers — 52% — “view themselves as journalists, up from just one third of respondents last year.

20 percent of respondents replied, “Break news and chronicle events as they happen,” when asked to identify the primary goal of their work, up from 5 percent in 2009.

91 percent of bloggers and 68 percent of online reporters “always” or “sometimes” use blogs for research, while only 35% of newspaper and 38 percent of print magazine journalists suggested the same.
