Will Joey Reiman kill Snoopy?
That was among the stranger rumors bandied about last week, when it was reported that Reiman’s BrightHouse consultancy in Atlanta had been retained to review insurance giant MetLife’s marketing communications strategy.
“We operate under the radar,” said Reiman, “but MetLife is a client.”
The world’s most famous beagle, part of MetLife marketing since 1985, may be in the doghouse, a result of the death last February of “Peanuts” creator Charles Schultz.
New strips no longer appear in newspapers, but Young & Rubicam in New York, MetLife’s agency, has bet the spokesbeagle can still deliver the goods.
