With Labor Day on the horizon, The Record (New Jersey) took a look back at the loss of Summer Fridays at PR firms in its local area.
Many firms either offered staff the early Friday leave on a rotating basis, or did away with the practice all together. The change is an effort to provide optimum client service, ensuring that someone is in the office to answer a client’s call, even if the phone rings at 4:59 on Friday afternoon. “I can’t allow clients to see any sort of slowdown in that,” said Glen Turvey, president of T2 Public Relations.
Other firms mentioned in the story includes MWW Group, which allows staff members to leave early as long as they make up the time; Beckerman, which says its staff members skip lunch in order to leave early; and Caryl Communications, which extended its 30-minute early leave from the summers to all four seasons.
