Rolling Stone executive editor Eric Bates has been making the rounds after a bombshell story published by the magazine this week on Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, who is currently meeting with President Obama to discuss remarks made by him and his staff in the story criticizing the administration and the Afghan war.
While it remains to be seen if McChrystal will keep his job, the PR person who set up the interview, Ducan Boothby, has already resigned. Said Bates of the move:
I don’t know if that is really the issue. It is not like McChrystal and his team didn’t know who is in the room and how much time was spent with them.
He added, “The PR person is always the first to go.”
