Roll Call: NIRI, APCO, a Culinary Alliance, and More

Photo: Tina Rupp"][/caption] The National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) has elected Derek Cole the 2012 chairman of the organization's board of directors. Cole is the VP of IR and corp comms for ARCA biopharma. He succeeds Douglas Wilburne, VP of IR at Textron. Dave Armon has been appointed president of broadcast monitoring and analysis provider Critical Mention. Armon spent 20 years with PRNewswire, last serving as president and COO. Since leaving that company, he's worked with Context Optional, dna13, and other companies. APCO Worldwide has added Christopher McCannell as VP in its Washington D.C. office. McCannell was most recently VP of government affairs at Ameriprise Financial and previously served as chief of staff to Democratic Rep. Michael E. McMahon (N.Y.). APCO also has a new senior advisor in the healthcare practice. Bronwen Kaye is the former senior director of government affairs at Pfizer. Jeanne Meyer has been appointed SVP of communications at Martha Stewart Living Omnimediaresponsible for the corporate communications strategy for the media and merchandising areas. Meyer was previously the EVP of corp comms at Current Media. [via PRWeek] Univision has two promotions to report. Bert Gomez is now SVP of government relations for the Spanish media company. He launched the company's Washington D.C. office four years ago as well as the company's PAC. He was VP of government relations. And Monica Talanis now SVP of corporate comms and PR, responsible for internal comms, PR for programming, and other communications areas. She joined the corporate relations department in 2008. Wagstaff Worldwide, specializing in the hospitality industry, and TRUE Public Relations, an entertainment firm, have partnered to provide services for culinary personalities. Their first client is Gail Simmons, judge and critic for Bravo's Top Chef franchise. The alliance will be led by Wagstaff ED Melany Mullens in New York and TRUE partners Marcel Pariseau and Cece Yorke out West. Lisa Lau has joined Vibrant, the contextual tech company, as assistant communications manager. She was previously PR manager for Apress, a tech publishing company. [image via]
