Mark Penn, political strategist and former Burson-Marsteller CEO, has left his position as Microsoft’s “chief insight officer” in order to better figure out how to spend Steve Ballmer’s money. The Wall Street Journal broke the news this morning, reporting that Penn would start a new company focused on investing in digital marketing services. Stagwell Group, his new venture, “may invest in advertising, research, data analytics and public relations.”
