Bethany Sherman, SVP and chief comms officer at Dow Jones, is among the executives leaving the company. A new chief comms officer will be announced soon. The string of executive changes at the company goes all the way to the top. Dow Jones president Todd Larsen, a 13-year Dow Jones vet, has resigned. Catherine Allen has been promoted to SVP at SHIFT Communications, the first time that position has been filled at the firm. Allen has been with SHIFT since its founding in 2003.
Jennifer Houston, president of Waggener Edstrom’s WE Studio D group focused on digital and social media work, is leaving the firm. She announced her departure on Twitter this week. Scott McLaughlin, VP of corporate communications for the firm told PRNewser in a statement that Jenny Moede, North American EVP for the firm will assume that role.
Karen Hulebak has joined APCO Worldwide’s International Advisory Council (IAC). Hulebak is the former chair of the Codex Alimentarius Commission, the United Nations’ food standards organization. APCO has just introduced a food safety and product recall group in which Hulebak will play an important role.
Bob Kocher, M.D. has also joined APCO’s IAC as well as its Health Advisory Board. He was previously a special assistant to President Obama advising on healthcare and economic policy. Dr. Kocher not only helped with healthcare legislation during his time with the Obama administration, but worked on First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign.
Debbie Etchison (pictured) has joined Formula as VP of the sports and entertainment practice in the firm’s Los Angeles office. She has 20 years of experience and has worked with firms including Atomic PR, Weber Shandwick, and Hill+Knowlton Strategies. The firm’s San Diego office has also promoted Taryn Unruh to director of the business and technology practice.
Rachael Adler and Melissa Connerton have been promoted to VP positions at CooperKatz & Co. Adler has been with the firm since 2002 and has been working in the health practice, focusing on thought leadership and social engagement programs. Connerton has been with the firm since 2005 working with consumer and B2B clients in the higher education practice.
