Research: Traveling is On Most People’s Bucket List

According to a study by the Hilton Garden Inn (with help from the Ketchum Global Research Network), 69 percent of people have a list of life’s things to do, and 83 percent say that travel tops that list. Achieving a professional goal (61 percent) and volunteering for a cause (59 percent) were the second and third most popular items on the to do list.

Hilton Garden Inn conducted the survey in conjunction with a contest that will give a grand prize trip — 3 days/2 nights — to the winner and a guest to the destination of their choice. Entrants can go to the hotel chain’s Facebook page and tell the company about their “ultimate to-do list” for a chance to win.

Other findings from the study include: men are more likely than women to have something risky on their to-do list (43 percent to 28 percent); women are more likely to have volunteerism on their list (65 percent to 53 percent); people living out West are more likely than the average AmericanĀ to have something mentally or physically challenging on their list (73 percent); and 76 percent hope to carry out their top goal with someone else. Awww.

ButĀ 56 percent of Americans say that money is the top obstacle to fulfilling their list.

A total of 1,011 adults over the age of 18 were surveyed for the study back in April. Emanate PR is also helping with the outreach on this campaign.
