Did you know that the Women’s World Cup is going on right now? Most Americans apparently either don’t know or don’t care.

This morning, Katie Hawkins-Gaar addressed the “dismal double standard of World Cup coverage” in a must-read post on Poynter. In short, most media outlets aren’t devoting much time to the event because the league consists of women and only women.

So where CAN one go to keep up with the tournament? Influenster, a product review and discovery company, created an infographic to answer that question.

Some basic facts:

  • 63 percent of women plan to follow the WWC
  • 97 percent think it offers strong female role models (because of course it does)

Here’s the graphic, which shows that women are turning to social media to make up for a lack of coverage in more traditional outlets.

They’ll also be tweeting and Facebooking their support.
