Giffords' Returns to D.C. to Send a Message

Last night, as the House vote on budget legislation was underway, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, the Democratic Congresswoman from Arizona who was shot in the head in her home state in January, was also there, unexpectedly, to cast her vote. She received a standing ovation.
According to The Daily Beast, Giffords’ wanted to send a message of compromise with her presence, one that’s sorely needed in Congress these days.
