Former PR Pro Calls Current PR Pro 'Self-Righteous B*tch'

A true classic in the "This Happens All the Time" files went down yesterday...and it happened to be an interaction between two communications professionals in the political sphere. Here goes: right-wing blog The Daily Caller ran a story asserting that New York Mayor Bill de Blasio wasn't happy with funding allocated for President Obama's "Grow America" Department of Transportation funding act -- the implication being that he and other governors wanted more money. (This angle came from an earlier Daily News story highlighting de Blasio's concerns about insufficient funding for transportation infrastructure.) After the story went live, de Blasio spokesperson Amy Spitalnick asked for a correction, telling the blog's editor that de Blasio had referenced the proposal in this week's press conference "as one that boosted funding to adequate levels" and did not call the Obama total insufficient. Spitalnick forwarded the subsequent email exchange to BuzzFeed because it included this rant by Buckley Carlson -- the brother of site founder Tucker Carlson who was for some reason included on the previous email and who made the classic mistake of hitting "reply all" in responding to his brother: Great response. Whiny little self-righteous bitch. “Appalling?” And with such an ironic name, too…Spitalnick? Ironic because you just know she has extreme dick-fright; no chance has this girl ever had a pearl necklace. Spoogeneck? I don’t think so. More like LabiaFace. We don't have to tell you why she felt the need to share: Sadly, too many women face misogynistic garbage like this far too often. http://t.co/yCVEZ4waPV — Amy Spitalnick (@amyspitalnick) March 25, 2015 Tucker, who himself referred to Spitalnick's "tone" as "whiny and annoying," assured BuzzFeed that "I just talked to my brother about his response, and he assures me he meant it in the nicest way." The most amusing part of this regrettable "story" is the fact that Carlson is a former PR professional himself: as his 1997 New York Times marriage announcement notes, he previously served as "communications director of the Maryland Republican Party in Annapolis."
