'First Lady' of PR Betsy Plank Passes Away at 86
Betsy Plank, often referred to as the “first lady” of PR, passed away yesterday at age 86.
A resident of Chicago, Plank was the first woman to be: elected president of the Publicity Club of Chicago; serve as president of Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and head a division of Illinois Bell.
She rose to the ranks of executive vice president of Daniel J. Edelman, Inc. (now known simply as Edelman), before joining the Bell System in 1973.
