Dannon Pitch Gets Stung by FTC

For a couple of years now, we’ve been listening to Jamie Lee Curtis tout the digestive benefits of eating Dannon’s Activia yogurt. Well, no more.

The company has to pay $21 million in settlements following the FTC ruling that Activia’s promise to relieve “occasional irregularity” was misleading, Slate’s XX Factor blog reports. The regulators also had a problem with the claim that the DanActive yogurt drink could prevent colds.

CBSNews.com says the company used research it funded to prove its Activia claims.
