CCOs Face Reputational Threats, Many Are Unprepared

Findings from the third annual survey “The Rising CCO” indicate that 34 percent of corporate communications officers faced a reputational threat via social media in the past 12 months, and 33 percent of CCOs are unprepared for such a threat. Weber Shandwick and executive search firm Spencer Stuart surveyed 127 CCOs in North America, Europe, and Asia online through May and June of this year.

Social media and blogging are expected to be the fastest-growing functions for communicators in the near future, with 54 percent of respondents saying that digital experience will be among the most important qualifiers for communicators.
