You won't get rich selling retirement plans to small-business owners. In a Wells Fargo/Gallup Small Business Index poll, just 11 percent of such people said they expect to retire and stop working altogether. Forty-seven percent said they'll cut back but "always maintain some involvement" in the business; 40 percent will "never retire until forced to stop working for health reasons."
Many small companies won't outlast their owners, judging by another of the poll's findings. Asked to say what will happen to their business once they're no longer working at it, 62 percent said "it'll keep going." But 33 percent "it'll stop." The rest declined to answer.
