CHICAGO Jim Beam Global Spirits & Wine has awarded lead creative duties on its Canadian Club whiskey to Omnicom Group's Energy BBDO here after a review, the client confirmed. The business had previously been at Publicis Groupe's Publicis Dialog in New York.
Energy BBDO, which already handles several brands in the Jim Beam portfolio, will develop strategy and execute creative for an upcoming global brand push.
"Beam Global is committed to Canadian Club and believes the brand has a great deal of untapped potential," said the Deerfield, Ill., company's CMO, Rory Finlay, in a statement. "Energy BBDO delivered the big idea. They wowed us. The decision to go with them was unanimous."
The agency had previously handled creative duties on Beam's namesake bourbon brand, Knob Creek small batch bourbon, Starbucks-branded Coffee Liqueurs, DeKuyper Cordials and Pucker Schnapps.
Contenders for the Canadian Club business were not disclosed.
The company spent less than $1 million on advertising the brand in the U.S. last year, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus. A company representative said the brand would receive a "double-digit" increase in ad spending over the next 12 months.
