The Church of England is demanding an apology [2] (and cash) from Sony for setting part of its PlayStation 3 game Resistance: Fall of Man [3] in Manchester Cathedral. According to CNN, the bishop of that northern U.K. city said: “It is well known that Manchester has a gun-crime problem.” So, artistic license clearly isn’t the issue. Here’s a Sony spokesman’s response from the same item: “It is entertainment, like Doctor Who or any other science fiction. It is not based on reality at all.” So ... Daleks [4] are to blame? At any rate, both sides should work things out so Manchester can resume doing what it does best: creating perfume that smells like cheese [5]. Here’s hoping the gunplay, simulated and otherwise, never warrants a line extension [6].
