The Church of England is demanding an apology (and cash) from Sony for setting part of its PlayStation 3 game Resistance: Fall of Man in Manchester Cathedral. According to CNN, the bishop of that northern U.K. city said: “It is well known that Manchester has a gun-crime problem.” So, artistic license clearly isn’t the issue. Here’s a Sony spokesman’s response from the same item: “It is entertainment, like Doctor Who or any other science fiction. It is not based on reality at all.” So ... Daleks are to blame? At any rate, both sides should work things out so Manchester can resume doing what it does best: creating perfume that smells like cheese . Here’s hoping the gunplay, simulated and otherwise, never warrants a line extension .
