WWOR-TV in New York will continue to be the exclusive broadcast home of the New York Yankees through the end of the 2011 Major League Baseball Season, a franchise the station has held since 2005.

The three-year extension between the YES Network and the owned-and-operated Fox Television station, announced Thursday (Sept. 18) calls for the station to present a total of 21 games per year in high definition.

“We are thrilled to be extending our partnership with the Yankees as the team begins an historic new era in the new Yankee Stadium,” said Lew Leone, vp and general manager of WWOR-TV and its duopoly partner, WNYW-TV, Fox Television’s owned-and-operated station.

“This extension provides continuity for Yankees fans,” added Michael Wach, executive vp of ad sales for the YES Network.
