Yanked A&E Series Those Who Kill Resurfaces on LMN

Sibling net to air remaining 8 episodes

Chloë Sevigny stars in Those Who Kill.

The shelved A&E drama series Those Who Kill is getting a new lease on life, although one that has all the markings of a burnoff.

Beginning Sunday, March 30, the Chloë Sevigny crime strip will move to A&E sibling LMN TV, formerly known as Lifetime Movie Network. The move was so abrupt that as of Wednesday morning, the LMN website’s schedule did not reflect the change to the network’s Sunday night lineup.

Perplexingly, the official A&E site for Those Who Kill carries no mention of the show’s shift to LMN.

LMN took a particularly low-impact approach to promoting its new property, leaving all the heavy lifting to its Facebook page. In a post that went live Monday night, LMN’s social media page alerted fans of the series thusly: “You don’t have to be afraid of the dark anymore. Those Who Kill is moving to LMN TV. Tune in this Sunday at 8/7c to re-live episodes 1 and 2. New episodes will premiere Sundays at 10/9c.”

A similar announcement posted to the Those Who Kill Facebook page was almost immediately greeted with the question, “What the eff is LMN?”

Launched in 1998 as a spinoff of the flagship Lifetime network, LMN reaches 84.7 million households. Compared to A&E, LMN’s prime-time ratings are rather underwhelming; per Nielsen, the channel closed out 2013 ranked 33rd among basic cable nets in total viewers (584,000 per night), 29th among women 18-49 (148,000) and 25th with women 25-54. Over the same span, A&E was No. 8 in total viewers (1.78 million), took fifth among women 18-49 (407,000) and claimed fourth place with women 25-54 (429,000).

A&E yanked Those Who Kill from its Monday night lineup on March 13, after just two episodes. The show premiered March 3 to just 1.44 million viewers and a 0.5 rating in the adults 18-49 demo, while the second installment delivered just 838,000 viewers and a 0.3 rating.

An encore of Episode 3 (“Rocking the Boat”) will immediately follow the 10 p.m. LMN opener. Subsequent repeats will air at 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. Monday.

A&E ordered 10 episodes of the Imagine Television and Fox 21-produced crime drama in April 2013.
