Tribune and Local TV Holdings Combine Denver, St. Louis Stations

TV stations owned by Tribune and Local TV Holdings in Denver and St. Louis have agreed in principle to combine certain programming and operations, the companies announced Tuesday (Sept. 16). By creating virtual duopolies, both companies expect to realize significant savings in management, technology and overhead costs.

The local marketing agreement in Denver and the shared services agreement in St. Louis call for the stations, KDVR (Local TV’s Fox affiliate) and KWGN (Tribune’s CW affiliate) in Denver and KPLR (Tribune’s CW affiliate) and KTVI (Local TV’s Fox affiliate) in St.
