WGN-TV, Tribune’s CW affiliate in Chicago, announced plans Monday (July 7) to expand its local news coverage this September, adding an early newscast and lengthening its midday news.
WGN Evening News gives Chicagoans a local news alternative to the major affiliates, which air their network newscasts 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. The newscast will be co-anchored by Mark Suppelsa, who is joining the station, and Allison Payne.
WGN Midday News will begin a half-hour earlier, airing 11:30 a.m.
