Email is usually first, with Instagram a close second. I don’t see a lot of my friends and family for big chunks of time, and I get to look at what they are seeing and how they are seeing. It’s a good way to begin my day. Tell us about your social media habits. I’m on Facebook but got overwhelmed by that pretty quickly. I love Instagram; it’s inspiring to see people share their collective experience in photographs on a huge scale. Twitter ebbs and flows for me. I take more than I give. Also, I’m still on Myspace. It’s lonely over there. Where did everybody go? What are your favorite Twitter feeds? If a big story is breaking, then following the journalists at the heart of it is incredible. Glenn Greenwald has been fantastic since the Snowden story broke. Matt Taibbi at Rolling Stone is always terrific. I like Democracy Now. There are great music blogs like Pretty Much Amazing. Russell Brand is a favorite. And Laughing Squid and Kottke are always blowing my mind. How do you get your news? Mostly through my father, Claude Adams, who is a lifelong journalist, correspondent, writer and avid reader who knows almost everything about everything. I start with him. Then I go to the Internet. And then I go to Jon Stewart. You’re a photography buff. What are your favorite photo apps? I shoot a lot with my phone, but I also like to shoot film. A couple of the cameras I use don’t have built-in light meters, so sometimes I’ll use the Light Meter Free app. For photo manipulation, I use an old app called PictureShow. And obviously Instagram—#iswearidon’tactually-workforinstagram. What TV shows do you watch? I’m watching True Detective right now, and I can’t even think about anything else. It has my full and undivided attention. Do you prefer to watch shows as they air or are you a binge-watcher? I think watching anything live with a large group of people at once is always going to be great. I try not to binge watch, although exceptions have been made. Tony Soprano and I spent about three weeks together that I will never forget. When you’re shooting Suits, how do you pass the time during breaks? I’m directing an episode this next season, so I spend a lot of that downtime talking to the different directors and our DP to try to educate myself as much as I can. Most importantly, though, I try to find creative places to hide Gabriel [Macht]’s skateboard so I can watch how frustrated he gets. How do you wind down before bed? A good conversation with [fiancée Troian Bellisario]. Maybe a book. I try to turn all the screens off. I’m not always successful, though. What’s on your reading list right now? I’m alternating between reading Dave Eggers’ The Circle and Ira Levin’s Rosemary’s Baby. Both are terrifying, and I can’t get enough of them.
