State of the Union Hauls In 42 Million-Plus Viewers

President Obama’s State of the Union Address on Tuesday, which aired from approximately 9-10:15 p.m. on 11 networks, totaled 42.79 million viewers, with a combined household rating of 26.6, according to Nielsen Media Research. 

Comparably, viewership was off by 11 percent from the year-ago State of the Union, which aired on Jan. 27, 2010; and 18 percent from the president’s address on Feb. 24, 2009. 

The participating nets were ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, CNN, Centric, CNBC, Fox News, MSNBC, Telemundo and Univision.
